A studio with a hand-drawn point of view
I'm Madhu, a self-taught painter turned surface pattern designer, and the artist behind Huefete. My work begins where it always has, with the natural world: the organic shapes, unexpected colour and quiet detail I find outdoors.
Huefete started in 2019 as a fine-art practice, original paintings made by hand. In 2025, surface pattern design became the focus: the same painterly instinct, now drawn for walls and fabric.
Every pattern still begins with a hand-drawn mark, then is refined at full scale with the final surface in mind, so the scale, layout and color sit right on a real wall, a length of fabric or a cushion, not just on screen.
I think of pattern as a way to set the mood of a room. My collections run from bold, characterful designs that bring depth and drama, to soft, muted neutrals that hold a space in calm.
What guides
the studio
Three principles that run through every design and collaboration.
Hand-drawn, every time
Each pattern starts as a hand-drawing and is refined into a seamless repeat.
Built for real rooms
Designed at full scale for actual walls and fabrics, not just the screen.
Quietly collaborative
I adapt color and scale to each brand and project.
“Huefete began with a simple belief, that every home should feel personal. My hope is that a pattern of mine makes a space feel a little more like you.”
